Facilities Technician

Job Description:

General Dynamics IT is seeking a Facilities Technician to join its dynamic team in Bogalusa, LA. The Facilities Technician performs general moves by transporting furniture and equipment. Additionally, the Facilities Technician will assist with simple repairs, modifications and preventative maintenances as requested by the leadership team. Administrative duties include assisting with the mail-room activities which could include delivery and general processing of mail. This is a position that will be performed inside and outside the physical office building.


  • Participates in office moves by transporting furniture and equipment.
  • Performs simple repairs, modifications, and preventative maintenance as requested.
  • Assists with mail-room activities to include delivery and processing of mail.
  • May order office supplies.
  • May call in work orders on office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, etc.
  • Uses power tools and hand tools.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Make practical suggestions for improving work process in own area.
  • Adhere to established safety practices and procedures in work area.
  • Use computer based Facilities Management tools to respond to, track and document service requests.
  • Perform maintenance and repair to fixtures, furniture and equipment.
  • Oversee scheduled preventive maintenance on building HVAC systems.
  • Perform scheduled testing of fire alarm, fire suppression and emergency backup power systems.
  • Perform routine building maintenance such as changing light bulbs, painting, carpentry and plumbing.
  • Keep sidewalks and entry ways free of snow and ice and treated with ice melt until snow removal vendor is on site. You will perform the task using snow shovel, snow blower, lawn tractor with blade and salt spreader. Contact and assist snow removal in coordination with vendor. Prep equipment prior to winter months.
  • Keep building and grounds free of litter and debris.
  • Be proactive in addressing building needs and repairs.
  • Share on call responsibilities with other departmental staff to respond to after hour emergencies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and growth opportunities.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Maintain a professional tone in all communications and work to avoid and resolve conflict.


  • Requires a High School Diploma or GED.


  • Position requires 1-3 years of related facilities maintenance or custodial experience.
  • Ability to apply basic technical and operational skills and procedures appropriate for the position within the assigned functional area. Solve problems in routine situations.
  • Use computer based programs with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, for communication and reporting purposes.
  • Understand, follow and enforce GDIT Physical Security Policy. Understand and participate in CMT activities.
  • Work in all areas of the property, including outdoors during all seasons.
  • Be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs., and be able to climb ladders and stairs to perform essential tasks.
  • Provide quality customer service.
  • Maintain a professional tone in all communications and work to avoid and resolve conflict.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
